Zero Overdose Youth Ambassador Training for Suicide and Overdose Prevention
This training prepares young people to notice when a peer, household member, or community member may be at risk and to respond as a trusted, informed connector in their school and community. Participants will learn how to recognize early warning signs of overdose risk and mental health crisis, and how to start supportive, non-judgmental conversations using motivational interviewing skills. Ambassadors are introduced to safety planning and key prevention strategies for deciding when peer support is appropriate and when to bring in a trusted adult. The training also highlights self-care and burnout prevention for ambassadors to support their overall health and wellbeing in this role.
Students who attend this training will receive a certificate for 1 community service hour.
